If you have not received your 2009-2010 University of Illinois Student Health insurance card and your UnitedHealth Allies card during the last weeks of August 2009 or the first week of September 2009, please check the following.
Are you covered under the Student Health Insurance Plan for the 2009-2010 plan year?
The Student Health Insurance plan is assessed as a fee. The fee is assessed based on your registration status. To see if you have been assessed the Student Health Insurance fee you can look on your university statement of charges. The fee will be listed as UIUC Student Insurance fee.
If you are not assessed the fee it could be for one of two reasons.
1. In the past, if you have applied for an Exemption from the Student Health Insurance fee.
Exemptions are permanent; meaning if you have been approved for Exemption at anytime in the past, the fee will not be applied, regardless of length of time since the Exemption was applied. Example would be if a student exempted as an Undergrad and became a Graduate student. Once a student is exempt from the plan the only way the student will again be assessed the fee is if the student Reinstates into the plan. This must be done directly with the Student Health Insurance office. For more information, go to Reinstatement.
2. Based on your registration status, the Fee Assessment Office has determined that you are not eligible to be assessed the fee.
In order for a student to be on our list of covered students, their registration must be in the University’s Banner system, which means registration must be completed.
Students who file for an extension of coverage and dependents of students applying for coverage will receive their cards after application for extension and/or dependent coverage has been processed in the Student Health Insurance office. United Health Care will also require time to process the cards and have them mailed out.
